We worked for the last 3 weeks at Cornerstone Ministries in Tampa Florida. The weather was both hot & cool. We worked at both the office facility & the Rosa Valdez Child Care Center.
We attended church at Hyde Park UMC in Tampa. Which is a very large church with several services and a Homeless mission project.
Our team was 6 people. We had devotions in first floor room of the administration building. We had a meal of soup for our team meeting.
One of our first jobs was moving a large desk up stairs for one of the offices.
We met with the some of the key people from Cornerstone Ministries and found out about their mission. They provide their own day care as well as provide the administrations to several other day care facilities in the area.
At Rosa Valdez we trimmed trees.
The facility was in need of minor repairs & painting.
New lights had to be installed.
Leaves on the playgrounds needed to be blown & taken care of.
Door ways needed to be repaired.
Several bags of leaves were picked up.
The upstairs bathroom & hallway had to be painted.
The big pile of mulch was moved to the playground.
Two ball boxes were buildt for keeping the balls picked up on the playground.
We fixed up the sign by the entrance to the day care. It was sanded, primed & painted with new chalkboard paint
Around the outside of the facility trees were trimmed.
We went to Big John's Alabama BBQ. The servings were large & the food was good.
At Rosa Valdez the entrance door was rotting apart at the top. We came up with a plan to remove the old board & replace it.
There was a butterfly sign that had fallen apart in front of the child pick up area. A new one was made & painted.
The inside classroom doors needed paint as well as the hallway & steps.
The new butterfly was mounted in place. We added NOMADS & the date to the sign.
The awning over the entrance door was painted.
The last week we worked at the administration area building. Trimming palm trees was the top priority.
Several of the palm trees had grown into the fences.
At Rosa Valdez we applied crack sealer to all the asphalt cracks. The weather didn't cooperate so we were unable to apply the seal coat cover.
At the administration building we moved two large tables to offices upstairs.
We installed the wires & new security cameras.
Upstairs the walls were in need of patching.
Everything needed a coat of paint.
The facility held a cook out for the NOMADS & their staff.
All the vents in the administration building needed cleaning.
The NOMADS camping area was small. We had 30 amp., sewer, & shared a water hook up.
The facility sign for the parking area for NOMADS fell apart. We donated a new NOMADS sign & built a stand for it.
Our final project was painting an office. There was a lot of caulking that had to be done before we could paint the office.
The last night we went out to dinner at Chipotle Grill.

Wow. I am impressed. Few people did a lot.
