NAPUS Convention and State Park Visits

We left home on Wednesday June 19th for this trip. About 3 years ago Nancy purchased the Michigan State parks stamp book, where you get a picture stamp in the book for each park you visit in the book. At that time I told her we would go "someday". Well she found out that they decided this year to discontinue the program when the supplies of the stamps run out. So for the next 2 weeks we are going to go to some of the parks to get the stamps in the book for her. Most of the parks we have visited in the past.

On the way to the Postmaster convention in Grayling we stopped at Sleepy Hollow Park. As close as we can remember it was in the early 80's we visited here.

We stopped at both the North and South Higgins Lake State Parks on Thursday Morning. We also visited Otsego State Park to get the stamp there.

We were staying at Hartwick pines, while in the Grayling area.

On Thursday afternoon  we went canoeing with others from the convention and did well until we were at the end of the float when we went to shore there was a large rock and the canoe rolled to the side. Nancy went out of the canoe to sit in the water, and I got wet my legs wet when I jumped out.

Dennis and Retired Postmaster Mike Scragg from Marshall during a break in the canoeing. Mike was in a Kyack and later in the afternoon hit a tree branch and went in hard.

While at Hartwick pines we visited the Old Growth forest and the museum. We also went to the old loggers camp that is in the state park.

Dennis had to give the Scholarship committee report as the past state President.

I finally found a washing unit for Nancy at the Museum!

Nancy found a guy at the CCC display that she could hold onto!

We are traveling with the truck camper on this trip. This is a picture of it set up at Hartwick Pines State Park.
