Florida Children's Home Week 2 Jan 17th -23rd

This was our second week at the Florida United Methodist Children's Home in Enterprise, Florida. The week was cool to start the days with the sun warming us up to be able to work outside in the afternoon's for most of the team.

This historical sign at the entrance tells the story of the Children's Home and its establishment in 1908 as a orphanage.

Nancy & Lo worked at painting the inside doors of the Bruton office building.

Because they always need supervision, Goofey was on guard to see that all the work got done right.

Jack & Jim worked on building a cabinet to hold scrap wood in the maintenance shop.

Tuesday night we went to Senior's night at Cicis Pizza.  We were joined by Lyle and Carol who are volunteering for their 17th year at the Children's home.

Wade helped Dennis power wash more of the buildings this week.

Dennis filled the power washer several times with fuel.

We celebrated two birthdays on Thursday morning.  Lo & Betsy both had a birthday on Friday.  Betsy made a gorilla bread cake.

In the cool mornings we were kept busy working inside.  Betsy painted the chair rail in one of the buildings.

Connie cleaned the office window ledges.

Lo painted the doorways & doors.

Jim & Jack checked the fire exit lights.

Lo & Nancy started the task of painting all the benches & picnic tables in the garden by the chapel.  Towards the end of the day Connie, Judie & Betsy pitched in to help finish the job.

Judie was ready to get the job done so she crawled under the cement picnic table to paint.
