This was our first week at Centenary Camp in Quincy, Florida. The weather cooperated with the work list for part of the week & then we got some rain. Although the rain hinders outside work most of it fell after work hours.
This is the sign at the entrance to the camp. It is in a beautiful rural area.
On Sunday we went to church at in Quincy, Florida, at the Centenary UMC that was the founding church for the camp and still highly supports it.
This is our team. Dennis & Nancy, Sandy & Rick, & our leaders Sandi & Dave.
Our first project was to finish draining the pool. Dennis & Sandi worked on that. There was about 6 inches of water still in the pool.
A bonus of 3 frogs were swimming in the deep end. Dennis caught them & let them go out in the woods.. A few days later a small copperhead snake was found in the deep end of the pool & relocated.
Sandy sweep the pool which was a never ending job because pine needles & leaves kept blowing in.
Dennis moved scaffolding to the deep end of the pool while Sandi, Dave & the rest of the team sanded the walls of the pool in preparation for painting.
The camping area is located at the camp work site.
This is the road into the campground.
Draining the pool was part of each morning especially after the rain that fell.
Dennis sprayed bleach on the tables in the dining hall. Sandy & Sandi scrubbed the tables.
After the tables were done being cleaned we started cleaning the chairs. There were about 100 chairs.
Sandy & Nancy washed the inside of the dining hall windows.
Sandi scrubbed & cleaned the vents.
Sandy mopped & waxed the floor after the paint was touched up on the walls.
Next on our list was washing all the dishes in the kitchen. Sandi ran the dishwasher.
Dennis used the grinder on the edges of the wall of the water garden prayer fountain they are building.
Rick & Dave replaced some tiles in the dining hall.
Nancy cleaned & painted the room where we meet each morning.
Dave painted on the sealer in the water fountain.
Sandy mopped the floors in the cabins while Sandi & Nancy cleaned the rooms & touched up the paint on the bunk beds.
Great team, project and location. 32 degrees this am. Hoping to leave for lec after Christmas. Say hi to team. See you in Jan.
