Outdoor Wilderness Learning Center (OWL) April 8 - 14, 2017

This was our second week at the OWL center in Dubach, Louisiana. Tuesday was a rainy day but we were still working on inside jobs. The rest of the week has been very nice.

We attended the Palm Sunday traditional church service at Trinity UMC in Ruston on Sunday.

After church we went to Peking Buffet for lunch.  There was lots of food to choose from.

Sunday afternoon we had popcorn and a movie.  We watched the movie Joshua.

Betsy & Nancy removed lots of flowering plants to be replanted elsewhere.

Pat & Anne painted the safety stripes on the ropes courses.

Hal, Dennis, Carl & Wade put the support posts up for the new covered walkway between the bunk house conference center & restrooms.

Lots of critters were in the flower beds as we worked on them.

New flowering plants were gotten to be added to the flower beds.

Betsy, Pat, Anne, & Nancy sorted out the candy for the Easter Baskets

Nancy played with the stuffed animals before putting them into the baskets.

We filled 93 baskets for the Children's home in Ruston.

Anne put the finishing paint on the door trim in one of the offices.

Wednesday was the day for making Salsa. Wade started by taping boxes for salsa jars.

Everyone helped fill Easter eggs.  We filled over 1000 eggs for the Easter egg hunt held at the camp on Thursday for the children from the homes.

We helped make 2 batches of salsa, with each batch over 400 pints.

On Wednesday afternoon the eggs were ready for the egg hunt.  They were sorted by how many were needed for each home.

Linda, Betsy & Nancy painted the new puzzle pieces used in their games.

Carl & Anne hid Easter eggs around the conference center for some of the children. There were 2 egg hunts as 4 homes came in the morning and another 4 came in the afternoon. Each home had a separate area for their hunt.

Hal was the cook helper for the picnic with the Children's home.

We enjoyed lunch at the picnic area after the children were fed.

The painting in the offices was finished this week on Thursday.

A chicken coop was put together.

Hal & Carl put in new flower boxes at the conference center.

The boxes were filled with dirt & mulch.

At the end of the week the guys had all of the walkway framed up and the trusses built for installation on Monday.
