Outdoor Wilderness Learning Center (OWL) April 1 - 7, 2017

This is our first week in Dubach at the OWL Center.   The campus is beautiful & they are connected with the Children's Home. This campus serves the children in the children's home with opportunity's to work with animals and have many camp experiences.

The sign for the entrance is visible for quite a ways.

The OWL has several areas for activities.

The OWL history is addressed in this comerative sign.

We attended church in Ruston at the Trinity Untied Methodist Church.  The service for the contemporary service is held here.

At the back of the church is a basket of plastic soldiers that they request people take one & pray for people serving our country in the military.

We went to Applebee's for lunch after church.

We had our team meeting in the conference center after most of the storm had moved through. The center was on the emergency generator as the rest of the campus was out of power until late in the evening.

The RV parking area is spacious and has full hook ups.

We started Monday with a tour of the facility.  They have both a low & high ropes course.

In one section is the bunkhouse.  It has its own meeting room as well as 6 cabins.

There is also a greenhouse with several fruit bearing bushes & plants.

Our team consists of Dennis & Nancy (leaders), Wade & Betsy, Linda & Carl, Pat, and Anne & Hal.

The OWL Center has lots of farm animals.  There are goats, a pig, a cow, chickens, ducks, geese, & many horses

Betsy  petted the mama goat while Dennis held one of the twin baby goats that was recently born.

One of our first projects is painting in the office area.  Betsy, Pat & Anne prepared an office for painting.

Carl got the new electric fencing around for the pasture that the guys installed.

Wade helped remove weeds from planter boxes.

Pat & Betsy picked Mayhaw fruit from the trees for making jelly.

Everyone helped clean up one of the two greenhouses.

Dennis & Carl put up T-111 on the boathouse to cover the exterior walls.

Linda & Nancy pulled weeds in all the flower beds.

The OWL Center fed us a baked potato lunch on Wednesday.

Hal & Dennis worked on adding a few more inches to the bunkbed frames.

Nancy sanded the newly cut puzzle pieces.

Nancy & Linda painted 2 sets of puzzle pieces.

Wade painted the new walls of the boat house.

Thursday we went to Brister's Smokehouse for dinner and then to Dairy Queen for desert.
