ECHO - N Fort Myers Florida January 21 - 25 2018 week 3

This was our third week at ECHO. We accomplished most of the items on their list of jobs for us to do during this project.

We attended Grace UMC in Fort Myers Shores. After church we went to Rib City for lunch.

Because the weather was very damp to start the week, we were asked to clean & organize the second floor balcony electrical storage area in the shop.

Dennis was able to finish installing all the lights in the shop, both inside and out.

The bridge with new supports, railing, & lattice was completed.

Support joists were put in place on the AT addition in preparation for the new metal roof.

Gary & Mike installed a new drinking fountain by the bathrooms. It was a challenge because the pipes didn't quite match up & the new fountain had electric cooling. With NOMADS ingenuity they were able to get the bottom part of the fountain in.

Susan with help of Betsy & Sue finished painting the second house.

Dennis taught Elliot (who works at ECHO) how to use the break so they could bend metal to install on the AT building addition.

Sally, Jane & Nancy cleaned, washed & painted the Lani's on 2 of the intern houses.

Elliot gave us a great tour of the AT area of ECHO.  He explained where & how numerous practices are used in the different parts of the world.

Power washing was also on the list. ECHO had 4 of the intern houses that they wanted us to power wash. All the ladies had a chance to do power washing.

There was an old shed that needed to be bulldozed down.  Dennis helped the Christian Farmer's who were also working at ECHO, with the demolition of the building.

Mike & Chuck finished replacing the cement sidewalk piece that was broken.

The drinking fountain was completed along with the bottle refill station.

The metal roof was put on the AT addition.

The water lines at the restrooms needed to be lowered. To get this done the water had to be turned off to the whole ECHO campus for 35 minutes.

The supports were added to the metal roof of the AT building.

We were able to power wash all four houses. Betsy wore a yellow raincoat to keep some of the water off her while she worked on the Soffit & Fascia.

We had a brown bag lunch on Thursday. The kitchen ladies baked a special star fruit cake for us. Dave the CEO of ECHO joined us for lunch & told us more about ECHO and how important Nomads are in their planning.

Pete the maintainence manager also joined us.

After lunch we worked on finishing up the projects we had started. The new waterline was put in & a new shut off valve.

Chuck & Mike learned to skip trowel.  The meeting room by the library had been dry walled & needed to be textured.

Gary & John sanded put polyurethane on the benches in the Gazebo by the Price house.

John & Gary put in poles to support the water manifold lines that were left after the storage building was demolished.
