This was our second week at Camp Sumatanga. We worked on a variety of projects.
Nancy & Cheri painted the bottoms of the lifeguard towers & did the finishing touches.
We were told to go to Camp Sumatanga's Farm to Table Garden & help ourselves to the green peppers, hot peppers, & sweet potatoes that were left in the garden after harvesting by the camp.
Butch & Leonard finished the roof repair on the water tank building. They had a large hole to repair in the roof where the water pressure tank had exploded through the roof.
The team removed tiles from the floor in cabin 5.
The post that was broken was replaced in the equipment barn.
The area where we are camped at is busy every weekend. We are next to one of the three pavilions in the camping area.
Cheri put a coat of paint on the carpet ball game that we had built.
Phyllis helped organize the shelves in the shop.
Leonard worked on pulling wire for the new lights in Bessemer.
Window trim needed to be repaired where a tree branch had fell on the building.
We installed black plastic over the windows in Bessemer for a black light dodge-ball court.
Butch worked on attaching wires for the lights.
We replaced two screens on cabin doors.
Cheri & Phyllis prepared the light fixtures for mounting.
Dennis explained to Cheri how to mount the light fixtures to boards for mounting in the ceiling for the black lights.
There are a few covered bridges in the area.
This one is 8 feet high & 10 feet 6 inches wide. It is still being used today as a bridge.
We hiked to the Camp's Chapel which is at the top of a mountain above our camping area. From here you can see Sumatanga lake & camping area far below.
We also hiked to the cross. It has wifi & cell tower hooked up to it. Both the chapel & cross can be seen from the camping area & lake if you look carefully.
