Week three at Ripley, MS, this is a short week as the team is heading to their homes for Easter. We are all pulling out on the road Thursday morning.
We started the week off with a group picture in front of St. Pauls United Methodist Church. Pictured are: Dennis and Nancy Williams, Bill and Meredith Tarbell the leaders, and Kathy and Bill Walters.
Church members pictured are: Tony, Barbara, Willie, Beverly and Buford. They were the key members who worked with us and set up our dinners. The vision for this project is great.
For lunch on Sunday the team went to the Mi Pueblo Mexican Restaurant. They have a huge buffet on Sundays.
Bill and Buford work on installing and doing the final pressure check on the water lines in the closet.
Bill works on figuring out the Kitchen cabinets and where they will fit.
Meredith sanded, and painted the church window sills.
Buford was a huge help in getting this project to move along during this time.
Tony celebrated his birthday with us on Monday. Meredith brought cupcakes.
The new kitchen was mudded as the new cabinets were purchased for installation.
Kathy finished mudding the bathroom upstairs.
Willie loved helping and using Dennis' dry wall screw gun tool.
Meredith mudded the corner in the closet hallway area.
Bill mudded wire chase above the kitchen entrance.
Dennis and Willie installed insulation in the boys bathroom.
Meredith painted primer on the trim for the stain glass windows that are to come in next month.
Tony and Dennis re installed the light fixture after the ceiling and walls were painted in the stair well.
Tony painted primer on the new walls in the kitchen hallway and computer room.
New gutters were installed by a local company outside the church to help drain away rain water. This is important as there is a water problem in the crawl space below the church.
Buford and Bill trim out the old church door.
Nancy mudded corners in the new kitchen area.
The computer and kitchen area was all primed by the end of week three.
The upstairs bathroom drywall was completed and it was mudded by the end of the week three.
This team completed a lot of work but it is still going to take a couple of more teams to complete this project and allow this church to work towards their vision for the community. It has already been posted for next spring on the NOMADS web site.
