Phoenix UMOM February 14 to 20th

This was our first week at UMOM Period 3.  Because the team was arriving on Valentines Day, Nancy made each couple a chocolate heart shaped cake frosted with cherry frosting and decorated with two chocolate hearts.

On Sunday we attended Paradise Valley UMC for church.  We had one of the church members take a group picture of our team.

The week started on Monday with devotions in the chapel led by Dennis & Nancy.

 

James from UMOM took us on a tour of the facility & answered questions about UMOM & their mission. 

Our first job was to clean up the paint supplies mess left by the group of teenage volunteers who painted over the weekend. 

Jerry & Roger started clearing out the paint room for construction of shelves. 

Mardel painted the first coat on the base of the wall of building C.

Carol edged the doorways with coat 1. 

This was the paint room before organization & construction started. 

The girls took a break from painting the lodging walls & taped, trimmed, & painted the lower half of the chapel inside. 

Steve swept the floor of the paint room while Dennis & Kent took measurements the new shelves they would create & install. 

Jerry worked on removing the floor baseboard in preparation for installing a new wall between two offices.

 

Dennis stepped in to do some taping & painting up high in the chapel. 

Don attached the framing for the drywall for the new office wall. 

Roger used his paint brush & roller cleaner to help clean up the paint brushes each day. 

Pat was helping in the office by getting a mailing ready. 

Don & Jerry worked at putting holes for new pumps in the elevator shaft.  They only set off the fire alarm once! 

Steve & Kent cut wood for the shelves in the paint room. 

Dennis & Roger replaced the sun screen over one of the gazebo's. 

By Thursday the paint room shelves were in & the paint was being organized.

Thursday night the team went to Organ Stop Pizza in Mesa.  The team enjoyed the the organ player & stayed for 3 sets. 

The Alley Cats were a cute part of the show. 

The team enjoyed the pizza & ice cream.
