Crystal River Dec 06 - Dec 12 Week 2

This is week two of our project in Crystal River, Florida.  We worked on a variety of projects at the church and the Sanctuary shelter.

This week found us working on painting the bricks on "The Sanctuary" thrift store.  Sandra & Susan found it easiest to paint the white under the windows sitting down.

The devotion by Sandra & Ernie brought the Christmas spirit to all of us with this small nativity scene.

Connie worked at painting the top of the bricks white.  The manager of thrift store wanted the distressed brick look so we all worked carefully at making the bricks look like they had been there for awhile.

This sign was required by the fire marshal to be hung on the church's thrift store, it is an indication to firefighters that there are roof trusses in the building.

Chris & Ernie trimmed and hauled away brush from the trees in front of the thrift store. This has opened up the view from the road to the store, where they were planning the grand opening this weekend.

Judie painted the overhang of "the Sanctuary" thrift store white.

Patty, Susan, Sandra & Nancy filled holes & painted the baseboard and walls of the kitchen & living room of the Men's house.

Dave & Patty worked on replacing and repairing the lights around the church property.

Chris dug a hole for installing a drain catch basin for the washing machine that NOMADS are going to be able use.

Ernie dug a trench to put water lines in.

After looking at the "Sanctuary" thrift store painted the manager decided that she would like more red painted so that is on our plan for the coming week.

Andy & Connie worked at cleaning out one of the storage buildings at the church.  Many treasures were found & a dumpster was filled.

Dennis & Ernie discussed how to tap into the water supply line that is already there.

Ernie worked at hammer drilling through the cement to tap into the existing water line for the washing machine.

The church fed us another enjoyable large lunch. They have supplied the team with a meal every work day.

Nancy, Sandra & Susan started spray painting the church sign.

Nancy, Sandra, & Susan carefully painted the lettering & Methodist symbol on the sign.

After our week was done we all celebrated by going out for dinner at Crackers.  The serving sizes were huge & food excellent! Andy appreciated Connie's suggestion to take the team here.
