Winter Haven Feb 1 - Feb 6, 2016

This was our first week at  the Winter Haven project.  We worked at Wahneta Mission Church. There is a lot of worked planned for this work period.

Our first job was to put drop cloths on the carpeting which was new last year.  Al & Judy worked on covering the organ, table, and stage area to protect the carpet.

Mary Ann with the help of Judy, Wanda & Nancy cleaned the ceiling tile holders & put frog tape along the wall before painting the ceiling tile frames.

When the supplies arrived Arlin & Bill decided where to store the ceiling tiles along with all the other needed supplies we received for doing this project.

John & Dennis removed old ceiling tiles & insulation in the ceiling then installed the new tiles.

John was brave enough to try Cuban Coffee brought to him by the pastor.

Mary Ann & Wanda worked at removing old tile in the kitchen so Al could put leveling compound on the floor.

John & Dennis put siding on the outside walls that a contractor had replaced the foundation of the building.

Judy & Wanda cleaned up the floor after the ceiling tiles were replaced.

Judy & Wanda placed new tiles on the walls for baseboard.

Al was kept busy cutting tiles for the baseboard area.

Nancy power washed the playground toys & sidewalks. Luckily it was an 80 degree day!

Bill helped Judy mix mortar for the baseboard & floor tiles.

John & Dennis installed trim board around the window outside.

Nancy put tubes of grout on the seams & top edge of the baseboard tiles

Bill, Al & Dennis laid the 20 by 20 tiles on the floor.  By the end of the day Thursday about 1/3 of the center tiles were on the floor.

On Friday evening the local Nomads furnished  brats and burgers for a joint Potluck dinner with the Winter Haven team & Dundee team. 

Jeannie Hanson was feeling well enough to join us just one week after her surgery. It was great having all of the local NOMADS and the members of the 2 teams together.
