This was our second week at Ripley, Mississippi. We were joined this week by two of the main family brothers who came in from California and Missouri to help, they talked about memories from when they were children in this building. By the end of the week we were able to have the kitchen & bathroom cabinets most of them installed, many of the electrical face plates in place, the outdoor handicapped ramp started, the whole upstairs completed except for the flooring which NOMADS are not going to do, windows into kitchen trimmed, the Stain glass window installed in the sanctuary, the stairway partly painted, many of the lights installed. Then we started the cleanup & organization of the sanctuary area.
Meredith put wood filler into the holes in the cabinets.
Terry painted the doors brown for the kitchen, downstairs bathrooms & storage closet.
Tony and Griffin of the church painted primer on the baseboard & then painted the baseboard brown to be put in place.
Kathy put the primer coating on the dry wall in the storage closet & painted the walls.
Nancy cleaned the steps to the second floor & painted the primer on the new wood.
Dennis & Jim put luan on the stairway walls & installed trim in the stairway.
Chic helped Nancy & Kathy install spacers before putting face plates in place for the light switches & electrical outlets.
Dennis installed the bathroom light upstairs.
Bill installed the baseboard in the kitchen.
Bill, Bill & Buford and his brother Griffin started working on the Stain Glass window in the sanctuary.
Willie, a church member, Jim, & Dennis started building the outside handicap ramp.
Dennis installed the final trim upstairs.
Bill & Griffin started planning the window frame for the stain glass window in the sanctuary.
Everyone watched as the stain glass window was lifted for placement.
Griffin helped Bill install part of the window frame.
The window in place.
Outside Bill painted the trim around the window.
Marcus & Bill made a frame for the inside of the window.
Griffin spent quite a bit of time painting the baseboard trim.
Meredith stained the window frame for inside the window.
Dennis & Bill hung studding in the men's room for the ceiling.
Terry started removing old nails & staples in the sanctuary kneeling rail area.
Thursday night we were treated to dinner at Cravin' Catfish.
