Ripley Mississippi April 4 to April 10

This is our first week of 3 weeks working in Ripley Mississippi at St Paul's UMC. Due to our parking area being used for the Flea market we arrived on Monday and worked Tuesday through Friday. Everyone on our team has worked here before. We were able to complete some of the items on the work list this week.  By the end of the first week the bathroom upstairs was finished except for a final coat of paint, painting & touch up work upstairs is almost complete, the stairway wall is in the process of being rebuilt, doors are hung upstairs & in the bathrooms downstairs,  wall repair is started in the sanctuary, the kitchen cabinets are being installed, the utility closet is drywalled & painted, & the second coat of paint is being applied to the area by the kitchen.

Terry & Kathy started the week off with patching drywall in the upstairs bathroom that had gotten damaged.

Dennis & Jim rebuilt the classroom doors & hung them.  There were some special problems posed by the settling of the old building.

Nancy cut the ceiling for installation of the new lights.

One of the church members pitched in by painting the ceilings.

Bill was the plumber.  He installed the plumbing in the upstairs bathroom.

Jim & Dennis cut viewing windows in the classroom doors.

Kathy installed drywall in the closet, mudded it & Painted it.

Terry cut drywall for finishing off the downstairs bathroom walls.

Dennis & Jim installed new lights upstairs.

Meredith sanded & stained the cabinets for the kitchen.

A church member helped Bill install baseboard in the kitchen area.

Bill cut, measured & installed the final piece of flooring in the kitchen.

Chic did touch-up paint upstairs after her & Nancy painted the upstairs.

Dennis & Jim installed doors in the downstairs bathrooms.

Jim & Dennis tore out the old plywood on the stairway side & replaced it with luan.

Kathy & Terry began the process of filling the cracks in the old sanctuary with drywall mud.

Friday night we went out to dinner at Korbelias Restaurant and Atmosphere.   The food was good & lots of it!
