This was our third week in Moss Point, this has been a very "wet" project as we have seen over 15 inches of rain during this period. We had planned on leaving here on Friday morning but the sky opened up again and stormed all day long, so now we are going to hit the road Saturday morning. This week we got the bathroom floor laid, the daughter's bedroom ready for painting, the hallway ready for painting, mirror put up in the bathroom, the laundry room floor laid, the living room/kitchen walls & ceiling taped, the gable closed in, the house wrapped & prepped for siding. The plan is to use some local volunteers to finish the project.
On Easter Sunday we attended the church service at Pacagoula UMC. The service had 367 people in attendance. The bell choir played, the drums & trumpet were also playing & the youth put on an Easter Drama.
The first job on Monday was to enclose the gable on the house. The family had plastic wrap over the opening.
Dee cleaned the luan on the bathroom floor to get it ready for laying the tile. It was a very humid & hot day so it took a lot longer for the cleaner to dry even with fans on it.
Dennis & Glen (a member of the local church) worked on enclosing the gable with wood.
Mitch (another church member) assisted them by cutting the wood.
Nancy, Dee, & Suzanne worked on wrapping the house in Tyvek.
The floor finally dried by mid afternoon & Dee was able to start the tiling.
Suzanne & Nancy sanded the final coat of mud in the daughter's bedroom.
On Tuesday we continued working on wrapping the house in Tyvek. Dee cut the tacking strips for the Tyvek.
Dennis cut the opening in the tyvek for windows, outdoor electrical boxes, outdoor lights, air conditioner & other outdoor vents. He also applied the tacking strips.
Dennis wrapped the gable with tyvek.
Nancy & Suzanne sanded & applied the second coat of mud to the hallway.
Glen & Dennis finished tacking the tyvek on the house.
Suzanne installed the mirror in the bathroom.
By the end of Tuesday the house was enclosed in tyvek except for the gable on the other end of the house.
Wednesday morning Dennis cut the luan for the laundry room
Suzanne glued the luan on the under floor & then stapled it in place.
By the end of Wednesday Suzanne had laid the floor in the laundry room.
Mitch, Dennis & Glen worked on finishing the tack strips around the house & on the second gable in preparation for the flashing & tar.
Nancy started taping & mudding the living room/kitchen ceiling & walls.
Wednesday night we went to Pascagoula UMC, with Dee and Jack, for a potato & salad bar dinner.
