This was our 3rd week at ECHO. We were able to accomplish a lot of the work from the list they gave us.
We started the week with a movie & snack night, by watching the movie "Perfect Stranger".
Sandi & Nancy pressure washed the outside of the public bathrooms on the farm.
Chuck & Dave with assistance from ECHO workers started building the stairs & deck to the third floor of the A frame.
Don started working on the bathroom in the AT area.
Jack spent most of the time working in the shop.
Dave, Sandi, Dennis, & Bev worked on finishing the shade screen in the retail area.
We were able to get a group picture with everyone in it.
Sally painted the outside of the bathrooms.
Pat finished painting the inside of the bathrooms by the retail area & put primer on a rocking chair.
We were given a tour of the Appropriate Technology Center.
The technologies were set up in mock areas.
Dennis volunteered to run the foot water pump.
The final pieces of the shade cloth were installed.
Nancy helped paint the rocking chair.
Chuck & Dave finished the decking on the second floor of the A frame.
Dennis & Don put up the ceiling in the bathroom.
We were able to watch the process of harvesting sugar cane. They cut the sugar cane, press out the cane juices and then cook it into a molasses type product that is used on the farm by the interns.
Dave painted the trim on the bathrooms.
The rail sections were put together.
On Wednesday we were invited to the Volunteer Lunch at ECHO.
Dennis did cutting of the trim for the bathroom.
Bev & George painted the bathroom
Arlene cut trellis parts in the shop.
Dennis & Don put the new bathroom sink together.
The public bathrooms were finished being painted on the outside by Thursday afternoon.
The A frame had a new deck on the second & third floor, & new railing.
Dennis & Dave are the "Whatever! brothers." They both had picked up the hats at the Flea Market thinking they had one up on the other.
We ended the project with a pizza & salad bar followed by a closing service with the final song "Here I am Lord".
