This was our second week at Riverside Camp & Retreat Center. Lots of work is in process. We hope to get some of the jobs completed by the end of our 3 weeks here. Both Nancy and myself had to fight off the effects of colds this week. Nancy and other ladies of the team were also fighting the effects of Brazilian Pepper plants (a type of Poison Ivy). Nancy finally went to urgent care on Friday and received steroids to help get over it. The daily temperatures here this week have set new high temperature records for the area.
Mike & John measured & nailed in perlins on the roof of cabin three to support the metal roofing.
Dennis took measurements for the knee wall placement to support the rafters on each cabin. We do not have to worry about snow load here but we do want the roof structure stable.
We all had a chance to blow bubbles during devotions. Mike's goal was to catch one.
Mike & John placed & attached the metal roofing as Dave & Dave passed the sheets up.
Dennis came up with a homemade protractor to measure the angles for enclosing the area from the old roofing to the new roof with T-111 siding.
Sandi painted blue on the bunk bed frames in cabin 4, the camp wants us to plaint the bunk frames in cabins 3 and 4.
Nancy added a coat of Kilz to the underside of the mattress boards in cabin four. We think she also took a nap and pretended to paint.
Dennis enclosed the area where we had raised the roof with T-111.
Dennis & Mike worked on putting in framing for the screen doors on cabin four.
Susan painted the ceilings in cabin five. She also seemed to wear a lot of the paint as the week went along.
Sue put Kilz on the walls in cabin five to cover the writing on the walls.
On Thursday we had a visitor for devotions. Sue was able to catch him & put him outside after devotions.
Mike & John put the roof purlins on cabin one by the end of the week. With just a few days to go on this project the major construction is done, 3 of the 4 cabin roofs have new steel on them. There is a lot of trim work to get to this next week.
