Riverside Camp LaBelle Florida Week 3 February 10 - 14

This was our third week working at Riverside Camp & Retreat Center.  In this three weeks we were able to complete several items on the job list.

The Alva UM church we attended in LaBelle had a wood carved picture of the last supper.  Each of the apostles were depicted by a cross.

The explanation of the picture was underneath it.

Sunday evening the church sponsored a concert by "Santos". The music ranged from hymns
to doo-whap music.  Dennis & Mike were part of the backup singers and are now waiting for their contracts and royalties.

Roofing was put up on the final cabin one Monday.

Dennis worked on chiseling out the old roof in preparation for the t-111 trim and siding installation.

Sandi removed the fire extinguisher & light switch plates to prepare for painting the area.

Dennis had a lot of planning to do before cutting & placing t-111 to enclose the porch roof to the building roof, a piece of 2 x 6 worked as his tablet.

Susan brought M & M cookies for snack after devotions on Tuesday.

Mike worked on making the doors fit on cabin four to include a floor sweep on the bottom.  They were close as he had planned.

After the inside painting was done, Nancy helped scrape any paint spots left on the floor.

Dave, John & Dave installed t-111 on the first cabin.

Sue rolled the outside porch walls of cabin four.

Susan & Sue painted the walls inside the new porch area.

Kiltz was painted on cabin four & three in preparation for the new exterior paint.

The bunk rooms turned out nicely.  The walls were painted cream & the bunks were periwinkle.  We also painted primer under the mattresses to brighten up the room..

The outside of cabin four & three were finished being primed & are ready for the exterior paint.

Primer was started on cabin two.

Cabin five, which is very small had a coat of the new cabin color put on one wall.  The color is a very light lilac.

On Wednesday night the camp cooked a farewell dinner for us.  The chicken dinner was very good.

The camp director David also gave us a Riverside Camp t-shirt. This was his first experience with a Nomads work team and he was elated with the amount of work completed. He also told the team about his plans for future Nomads projects at the camp.
