Odem Texas Hurricane Harvey Rebuild Nov 10 - 16, 2018

This was our second week at Odem, Texas.  The team completed two houses and presented two bibles this week. Where the week before we had very hot weather this week turned and we had lows in the 30's and some rain.

In Aransas Pass Kitty & Carolyn worked on laying the last pieces of flooring.

Sara cut the pieces of flooring for the installers.

Carolyn & Gene put up the lights.

Jerry installed the doors.

The doorway had fancy trim blocks at the top of the entryway.

The team presented a bible to the home owner, Gene and Carolyn had been working in this home for 5 1/2 weeks.

The home owner took them out to lunch at the Butter Churn Restaurant.

In Rockport, Dennis applied the counter top ends.

Nancy worked on repairing the scratches in the new floors left by a previous group of volunteers

Dennis & Randy installed the kitchen sink.

Dennis & Nancy put OSB board on the garage walls.

Mary re-painted one of the bedrooms due to the wrong paint being used for touch up prior to our group coming in.

Randy put in the electrical outlets and switches.

We presented a bible to the home owner on Thursday morning. The electrician and H vac just need to finish up for them.

We finally got a team picture.  Sara, Kitty, John, Carolyn, Nancy, Gene, Dennis, Jerry, Randy & Mary.

We started another house in Rockport. Dennis explained to Sara how to install drawer handles.

Sara got good at putting them in.

Dennis cut the counter top for the kitchen.

John worked on the flooring.

We went to see The WWII air craft carrier Lexington.

It is a huge navy vessel museum docked in Corpus Christi

We toured the flight deck even though it was windy & cold.

Mary ventured up to the captain's deck.

John had to check out the cockpit of this airplane trainer.

Kitty looks just like the "We Can Do It!" Rosie the Riveter lady.

The original bell from the Lexington is on display.

We went to Blackbeard's near the ship for lunch.

The next day we went to the Peddler's Market.  Kitty & Nancy had to check out the shoes.  They were covered with glitter!  Perfect for NOMADS projects.

  1. Those homeowners must be thrilled. Nice work NOMADS

BTW, we've had rain. The pond is full. Peacocks still visit but mostly by the pond.
