Odem Texas Hurricane Harvey Rebuild Nov 17 - 23, 2018

This was our third week at Odem, Texas and we were able to finish another house. As the team said Good-bye to the Freemans and Faithbruckners, we also welcomed the Nortons and Sue Albright to the team as we took over the leadership of the team. Our team was blessed when the Hahn's decided to stay over for another week. We spent the week with cooler temperatures and dodging rain showers.
We are working in Rockport and Aransas Pass the area where Hurricane Harvey came ashore as a category 4, the eye was over Rockport.

We went to Dairy Queen to say good-bye to Gene & Carolyn and Randy & Mary and welcomed Gary & Avis on Thursday night.

Our team this week was John & Kitty, Jerry, Dennis, Gary, Sara, Nancy, Avis & Sue.

After church on Sunday, they had a Thanksgiving dinner with the Nomads as the guests of honor.

There was lots of food.

And a table full of deserts.

Sunday evening we had our team meeting and enjoyed the leftovers from the dinner.

Some of our team played cards. Of course Gary won!

We found out that the home owner had two pet pigs in Rockport. One had got out of it's pen and was roaming the street.

The Aransas Pass team went to What-A-Burger for lunch.

The house they were working on had a lot of sanding to be done followed by the second coat of mud. The homeowner here is a marine veteran who had roof damage during the storm and had to get the drywall replaced.

After the sanding of the second coat was done they started to paint.

In Rockport, John worked at finishing up the baseboard. 

They had a few pieces of flooring to cut & put in.

Kitty nailed in the baseboard in the hall.

Jerry finished putting in the flooring in the bathroom.

Dennis put the counter top for the kitchen together.

Kitty helped with applying the ends to the counter top.

It was a group effort to get the counter top in place after it was glued together.

Nancy cleaned the old silicone off the sink to be installed in the kitchen.

Dennis installed the sink then did the plumbing.

The counter base molding was attached.

Sara patched, mudded, sanded, & painted the area for the final cabinet & refrigerator. 

The kitchen was finished & ready to use.

The whole team worked on painting the ceiling. Jerry cut in & painted the ceiling.

John rolled paint on the walls.

Dennis painted the top of the wall over the shower.

Kitty finished the paint around the tub.

Jerry installed the toilet & the bathroom was finished.

Sara measured the places for installing lattice around the house.

Nancy, John, & Sara cut the long pieces.

Nancy installed the lattice.

The transitions were cut & put in place.

We presented the bible & a poinsettia to the home owner.

Dennis, Nancy and Sue went to Pastor Cliff's for Thanksgiving dinner. The rest of the team members were invited to Thanksgiving dinner at a church members home.
