This was our last week in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. We were able to complete the second house as far as we were asked to do and start on a third house.
After church on Sunday we went to Compadres Mexican Grill.
The food was good and we all ate way too much.
On Monday Steve started removing the old flooring in the living room area. It came up in big pieces.
Dennis put primer on the old kitchen cabinet doors.
Calvin, the home owner made lunch for us.
Glenita has a huge box of food containing a hamburger, pork chop, chicken, sausage & baked beans all prepared by Calvin.
Monday night Dennis & Nancy spoke to a group of American Heritage Girls about NOMADS. They were earning a badge for learning about mission workers & what they do.
After the baseboard was installed Nancy calked the edges.
We were all impressed in how fast the tear out materials from the house were picked up by the city.
The kitchen still needed lots of work.
Bill trimmed the inside door to make it fit.
Dennis laid the flooring in the Living Room.
Glenita painted the baseboard trim.
Bill & Barb installed the doors on the cabinets in the kitchen.
Rae & Anetra invited the NOMADS team over for dinner on Tuesday evening. As an appreciation we gave them a fruit arrangement.
Several members of the church joined us at their home.
There was too much food served as each of the church members attending brought dishes to share.
It was Betty's birthday so we had cake & ice cream at dinner.
Steve installed the drawers at the house.
Dennis helped to get the sink installed.
Barb & Steve replaced the broken metal on the screen door with wood.
The kitchen was the last room to be finished on the house.
We started on the third house. There were two back to back bathrooms that needed finishing.
They needed cement board on the surrounds for the shower & drywall by the ceiling.
Barb patched holes in the bedroom walls where the electrician had to search for outlets.
Glenita put mud on the drywall in the closet.
Barb & Steve installed the drywall over the tub.
Nancy calked & painted the trim around the entrance doors.
Barb read directions for painting the shower walls with a sealer.
Steve installed door handles on the closets.
Barb painted the red sealer on the shower walls.
Steve & Bill put in one last piece of drywall in the bathroom. With NOMADS leaving a new group will continue the work on the house next week.
Isn't it wonderful how many home owners so appreciate the work NOMADS do and do something to show their appreciation.
