Lakeshore Camp, Eva, Tennessee Period March 30 -April 5 2019 Week 1

This was our first week at Lakeshore Camp in Eva Tennessee.  We have an extensive list of items that they would like to have done.  The weather has been a little cool but good to work in. We had a bit of rain so jobs changed so we could work inside.

The camp sits on the hills of Tennessee River at Kentucky Lake a TVA reservoir.

The camping area is down a long gravel drive. We use the nature center for devotions in the morning.  It is in the campground area.

Saturday was Dean's birthday and we celebrated it with him. This also his first Nomads project, a wonderful way to start.

We celebrated with rhubarb pie (his favorite) & ice cream.

On Sunday we attended Eva UMC Church.  It is a small church nearby.

Sunday night we had a potluck for our team meeting.

Everyone enjoyed the fellowship & information about what we would be working on.

The week started with a tour of the camp.  It is 1000 acres & has several separate areas for us to work on.

One of our projects is to redo the bathrooms at the tabernacle. The old wall board had to be removed & replaced.

We had to tear down the old wire fence  at the conference center to prepare to build a new fence with wood .

We had to use a tractor to pull the old poles out.

Barb & Connie  applied stain to the fence on the other side of the parking lot at the conference center that was built last year.

Supplies for the new fence came in & were dumped by the area for the new fence.

Connie stained the tops of the fence.

Nancy stained the three front rails.

Jack started removing the old bathroom walls.

Pat removed the trim from the bathroom.

Elaine took off the wall items in the bathroom.

Ron & Dean mixed the new cement for the new poles for the fence.

Dennis checked to be sure the new fence poles were level.

The bathroom was ready to be remolded.

The camp invited us to dinner on Tuesday night.  It was good but too much food as usual.

After finishing staining the deck, Barb, Nancy & Connie moved inside to paint. The five gallon bucket decided that it wanted to spill.  Luckily we had plastic under the area.

Connie worked on the cutting in.

The new fence was started after the poles had set. Ron & Dean put up the fence 2 x 4 frames.

Dennis cut the new boards for the fence.

Nancy rolled the walls while Connie cut in.

Pat & Elaine started to install the new bathroom wall boards

Jack cut the wall boards to fit.

Dean & Ron sprayed bleach on the deck around the nature center.

Dennis cut in the high places.

Barb painted the small walls.

After the walls were painted,  The facility decided that they wanted the walls another color. Dean painted a small area of the room a new color so the staff could decide if they liked it.

Jack & Pat cut out a few more pieces for the bathroom.

Thursday night we went to dinner at El Vallarta, a Mexican restaurant.
