This was our 4th week in Lumberton North Carolina. We were able to complete 3 houses. The weather turned very cold & windy by the middle of the week with lows in the 20's, making it hard for the team to work on some of our jobs..
At our team meeting on Sunday we had Reid & Bill & Cheryl join our team for the next two weeks.
One of the homes we were given this week had work to complete the HVAC installation. Reid chiseled out the opening to the crawl space outside.
Then it needed to be framed in for adding a door.
Inside Dennis, Stel & Jodi discussed how to close in the opening for the overhead access in the ceiling.
The access hole would need to be matched to the opening.
Paige started working on closing in the old floor vents that were no longer being used because the new HVAC system had vents in the ceiling.
At the warehouse supplies were gotten.
Dennis did measuring on the ceiling hole for trim.
At another house all the old drywall needed to be taken down on the Ceiling & walls.
The next job we were given was to build 4 small platforms for new HVAC systems to be used in installations. Paige & Bob started working on those in the warehouse.
After the ceiling hole patch was cut Jodi used a heat gun to speed up the drying on the primer & paint.
Reid removed the old air inlet vent on the hall wall & patched the hold with drywall before Nancy painted it with several coats of paint & primer.
Stel did the final touch up pint on the ceiling access hole.
The outside crawl access hole had a new door installed with latch.
We presented a bible to Ms. Amy. We had work for 3 weeks on her home repairing the bathrooms, bedroom and floors. Her grandchildren were there also.
Paige gave her grandson a special piece of the trim wood that he had been using for doing his math with them.
After all the old blown in insulation was removed the new batt insulation was installed on the ceiling by Bob & Bill.
Linda & Cheryl worked on the walls.
Bob & Dennis removed the old door & started the prep for putting in a new door.
Bill started to dig out the base of the house in preparation for painting waterproofing on the cement.
At the warehouse one of the HVAC stands was loaded so it could be delivered.
Jeff the head of the disaster group helped Dennis unload the stand at the home.
After the 3 HVAC stands were done, one more was built & the extra 2 were moved outside for storage.
We ended our week of working with dinner at Finn Olivers.
Everyone received a nice treat from Ann from Disaster Relief. She made homemade chicken noodle soup & sweet potato pie & gave a us candy & crackers to go with it.
