Lumberton North Carolina Disaster Rebuild October 26 - Nov 1, 2019

This week we had Stel & Jodi, Bob & Linda, & Dave & Judy join our team. We continued to work on the two houses we have been working on.  We had Dave & Linda working on small projects at various homes in the community completing projects started by others.  We started working on a third house due to the rainy weather on Thursday. Without 1 big project we are spreading the team over several projects.

After church Sunday we went to Cicis Pizza for lunch.

We had our team meeting outside on Sunday afternoon. A full team of 12 NOMADS for the work this week.

We are camped in an old mobile home park across the street from a Walmart Neighborhood Market Place makes it easy to pickup groceries.

Bob & Don continued to work on the floor in Amy's house.

Paige & Paula painted the bathrooms at Amy's.

Jodi & Judy finished the flooring in the utility closet at Charlene's.

Bob replaced the broken bathroom window

Stel repaired the shingles on the roof.

Bob, Dennis, & Judy installed the door on the utility closet.

Nancy installed the kick plate & finished caulking every place that needed caulk.

Jodi stapled in the carpeting so it could be stretched in the living room.

Judy & Jodi ironed the carpet tape in place for joining seams of the carpet.

The roof patch was completed.

Stel & Bob started painting the gable end of the house.

Judy trimmed the carpet edged.

Jodi started putting in the transition strips.

Judy scraped, primed, & painted the back door

The hallway light was repaired.

Bob, Stel & Dennis put the new curtains on the living room window.

Everyone helped move in the furniture.

The hallway was completed.

The laundry room was completed.

The kitchen was completed.

The living room was completed.

Stel trimmed off the overhang of shingles on Ms. Charlene's house. With the weather not cooperating we could not get her house complete this week.

Dave & Linda worked on installing storm doors and other small projects that we were asked to complete left over from other volunteer team. Many of the other organizations have left this DR site.

On Thursday Nancy & Dennis gave team members a Halloween treat, candy bars and caramel corn. Paige and Bob shared peanut butter cups with the team.

At the third house, Ms. Juanita's  there is work to be done inside & out.  The roof has a leak where the garage & house comes together. Inside the ceiling strapping was coming down & needed to be primed & painted.

Stel worked on pulling up the strapping.

Judy & Bob worked on covering the living room in plastic.

Dennis rolled the ceiling with primer.

Bob painted the strips & cut in with primer. With the team's efforts we got the ceiling completely primed, after we covered everything.

We went to Pier 41 for dinner Thursday night.  Spots are advertised at several restaurants in the area. Bob decided to try them. They were BIG fish!

Everyone on our team wore their shirt given to them from the disaster organization. Steve the owner of the restaurant personally came to our table to thank us for what we are doing in the community.

Bob ate all the Spots!

Our assistant project manager Hugh was celebrating his birthday so we sang Happy Birthday to him.
