This was our 5th week at Lumberton. It was also the last week of the project here. We worked on two houses this week. The weather was cold with lows in the 20's & rainy. While in Lumberton our teams worked on 13 different houses with 10 projects closed. The teams contributed 1462 project Love hours to this community in the 7 weeks that NOMADS were here this year. Here is the information for last week.
After church on Sunday we went to Ruby Tuesday's for lunch.
Our team enjoyed the food & visiting with each other.
We had two couples join our team this week. Jim and Pat & Val and Paul. This was their first NOMADS project.
At the first house in Pembrook we had flooring to lay. The previous group had put Luan underlayment on the floor, but had not properly stapled it down. The local managers wanted it stapled every 4 inches each direction.
We had to pull the flooring that had been started & mark & staple every 4 inches .
After that was done we put leveling compound over the seams.
At the second house they were working on putting casing around the windows.
The water had to be turned off before working in the bathroom.
The old bathroom had lots of problems to be fixed. A new shower/tub had to be installed as well as plumbing problems fixed.
The new members of the team took a tour of the warehouse where all the supplies are kept.
We finally got all the floor ready at the first house & laid the flooring in the living room.
At the second house painting was going on in all the rooms inside. Here Jim was keeping the roller covering ceilings throughout.
The bathroom tub was removed & work begun on the plumbing and replacing the floor as needed.
After flooring on the first house was completed in the living room The big entertainment cabinet had to be moved back into the room.
All the old baseboard had to come out of the hall.
When that was done, the old flooring came up.
It needed to be broken into smaller pieces so it could go into the trash.
The floor under the old lanolin had to be taken out to get to the framing underneath.
It had been put in with lots of nails that needed to be removed before the old floor could be thrown away.
About 1/3 of the hall had to have the floor joist's replaced. Boards had to be added to both sides of the original joist's.
After the new sub-floor was finished then Stel prepared the trim for the installation of the laminate.
A new AC/Heat pump put into the kitchen window at the end of the day.
Paul and Val helped with the painting of the hallway before we started to install the laminate..
At the second house the tub surround was put in place & sealed by Reid and Bill..
Wednesday evening several members went out for pizza at Bravo Pleasant Pizza. The decor is very fancy with chandeliers & Italian pictures.
The pizza was good.
At one of our earlier homes we went back to repair bathroom door that had came loose.
Val worked on finishing the laminate flooring in the hall.
Dennis cut the Trim & baseboard, while Paul stained the pieces, & Nancy nailed them in place.
The finished hall.
Jeff & Ann had a Thanksgiving dinner for us the last night. They gave us a bag of treats that included cookies and candy for each unit.
The dinner was great! Turkey & all the trimmings!
Our team got a lot of work done during the week.

Ouch! All those tasks on the knees. Mine would not be able to take it anymore. Good job NOMADS!
