Life Enrichment Center, Fruitland Park, Florida Drop in Feb 24 to Mar 6

We did a drop in project at the Life Enrichment Center in
Fruitland Park, FL for two weeks.
Nancy worked on shoveling the stones for a base
for the life jacket & canoe cabinet that we were building.

The dirt that we removed for the base of the cabinet
was used to build up along the edge of the sidewalk.

Nancy placed the stone on top of the
weed barrier for the base of the cabinet.

Dennis built the base out of treated wood.

We were given lots of fresh oranges from the
trees in the grove on the camp property.

Dennis placed the back board for the the kayak
paddle holder on the bottom of the cabinet.

Nancy screwed in the sides and bottom of
the kayak paddle holder part of the cabinet.

Dennis worked on assembling the the back and floor
of the life jacket & canoe paddle part of the cabinet.

Dennis screwed together the sides of the cabinet.

Then attached the top.

The flowers were in full bloom.

Bummer Sixberry a new NOMAD joined Dennis
and helped with attaching the doors to the cabinet.

Nancy calked all the nail heads & joints of the cabinet.

The finished cabinet will hold 40 adult
life jacket vests and 30 canoe paddles.

The finished cabinet.

Our next job was to stain a table for the food service
area of Warren Willis camp. Bummer helped Dennis with the staining.

The next project was to build benches around
a campfire pit.  This is the before picture.

Nancy helped cut and unload the 6 X 6 posts for the bench bases.

Dennis & Bummer placed the base posts into the
holes Dennis dug and worked at leveling the benches.

The first finished bench.

Nancy enlarged some of the post holes.

Nancy used the Router and then sanded the
top and edges of the finished benches.

Trying out one of our finished benches.

The completed project of six benches around a campfire pit.

Our last project was to install pocket doors
into two of the rooms in building one.

The finished door in one of the rooms.

Dennis also worked with Ron from LEC to build a
framed alter which displayed art work made by
several campers over the years.
