Oklahoma Disaster Recovery March 11 - 16

This was our second week in Elmore City, Oklahoma.  Our team of 5 members made a lot of progress on the house in Maysville. Just a week ago we put out a call for help after the team had decreased to just us. The call was answered and by Sunday night 3 NOMADS had responded to the call for help and arrived. But that is also when the cold air arrived in this area for the next 3 mornings we were greeted by freezing temperatures and high's in the 50's.
Bob cut & hung drywall around the bottom edge of the stairway, it was miss-cut by the VIM member who had worked here but he got it to work.

Danny did lots of taping & mudding in the kitchen.

Nancy put mud on the corner bead around the upstairs bathroom window.

Paige taped & mudded the upstairs bathroom walls & ceiling.

Dennis mudded walls downstairs.

Bob cut & put drywall on the upstairs ceiling.

Bob worked on finishing the electrical in the kitchen.

Paige got a lesson on skip texturing from Kevin a disaster response team coordinator that was working with us on Tuesday for a short time.

Danny textured the kitchen walls.

Bob was our door installer as he installed the lower bathroom door.

Dennis skip textured the ceilings.

Bob caulked the T-111 outside the house.

Danny dug the front yard up for placement of cement patio blocks.

Danny & Bob moved the cut cement from the inside of the house to be used for a patio.

Dennis, Danny & Bob unloaded the shower enclosure to find out that it wouldn't fit into the house so they had to reload it & plan B is to build & tile the shower in the house.

Nancy painted the stairway wall.

Danny painted the kitchen walls & ceiling.

Bob fixed the bottom of the new kitchen cabinets.

Thursday evening we went to the Badger Den for dinner. Which is the only restaurant in Elmore City and happens to be right next to the RV parking area. Next week we have a full team on the project and very warm weather predicted.
