Hattiesburg Mississippi Disaster Recovery Mar 23 - 30

This week we had two new couples came in to work. Butch & Cheri and David & Laura. Part of the team worked on the house in Hattiesburg. At this house they were able to finish outside painting, continue the inside tear out, replace, tape & mud drywall & begin painting the inside.  At the house in Petal on Griffiths street we continued with painting & repairs.  We also started the repairs on another house in Petal this week

We held our team meeting Sunday evening where we discussed all the jobs for the week & enjoyed ice cream & cookies.

At Griffith street Susan worked on the half bath connected to the master bedroom.  There was boards that needed to be replaced on the floor.

Susan also cut & placed the luan on the floor in preparation for the new flooring.

David & Mike replaced the fascia & soffit.

At Rebecca Street, Cheri finished painting the gable on one end of the house.

At Griffith street, Dave, Mike, & Dennis moved the washer & dryer out of the laundry area so the sub-floor could be cleaned & baseboard painted to get it ready for the new flooring.

Susan laid the tile floor in the half bath.

At Rebecca street Butch & Larry put new drywall on the ceilings. The ceilings were 9 foot and the drywall lift only went to 8 feet. Making extra work to get the sheets in place.

Dennis installed the last two new windows on the house on Griffith street and repaired the bricks around them.

He also finished the power washing.

Mike caulked the soffit & ceiling in the carport area.

Susan & Laura painted the gable end of the house.

Dave & Mike removed the old decorative brick from the entrance area.  Laura & Susan chisled off the old mortar.  The home owner wants to have the bricks reinstalled in the decorative wall

Mike worked on the deck repairs, fixing the rails.

Dennis installed the new bathroom window.

We started on a new house in Petal.  The outside has lots of scraping & repair that needs to be done before we can paint it.

At Griffith, Dave & Mike put up new trim around the kitchen ceiling.

At the Wednesday night dinner Susan was given a cross made out of railroad spikes to take to the NOMADS annual meeting auction.  It was made by a local church member with the help of his dad.

This was our team.  Mike & Susan, Laura & Dave, Larry & Ginger, Cheri & Butch, & Dennis & Nancy (leaders).

Thursday was a rainy day.  The whole team ended up working at Griffith Street because of the weather. Ginger caulked & painted the kitchen trim.

Larry prepared this doorway for the new molding.

Cheri & Ginger helped unload the new doors.

Larry & Dave started putting up drywall in the bathroom. By the end of the day we had luan on 1/2 of the kitchen, 3/4 of the drywall in the bathroom, all the baseboard & trim painted in the kitchen/dining area, new windows caulked, several inside doors installed and painting finished in the carport. A lot of work got done with all ten members of the team on one house!

On Thursday evening we went to the Maundy Thursday communion service at the church.  It was a live depiction of the "Still Life Last Supper".

On Good Friday we attended the "Still Life of the Piata" which was a live depiction of Christ after being removed from the cross with Mary.
